Grab and Go

Every new achievement of my girls has been special for me. So when they had to start their school; I thought it would be fun for them to have personalized things. I wanted my girls to feel special at the school and so came the idea of crocheting the bags for them. As they only had to carry their lunch to school; I made this sack for one of my daughters. It is big enough to carry her lunch to her school. And the great part is that she loves it.
Size
8½ inches wide and 9½ inches high
Materials
Oswal Sunny Super Cashmilon [100% acrylic; 155 yards/142 meters per 50 gram/1.75 ounce skein];
Jungle Green; 1 skein. Small amount of red and green for the appliqué
Alternate yarn: Premier Yarns Serenity Sport Weight Yarn [45% acrylic, 55% nylon; 361 yards/328 meters per 3.5 ounce/100 gram skein];
035 Jade – 1 skein
Small amount of red and green for the appliqué
#101 Green; 1[1, 1, 2, 2, 2] balls
Recommended hook sizes
US C/2.75 mm hook (size US E/3.5 mm for alternate yarn)

Beginning at bottom, ch 38.
Rnd 1: Dc in fifth ch from hook (skipped chs count as first dc) and in each ch across to last ch, 7 dc in last ch; working in free loops of beginning ch, dc in next 33 chs, 6 dc in next ch; join with sl st to first dc: 80 dc.
Rnd 2: Ch 3, dc in next 34 dc, 2 dc in each of next 5 dc, dc in next 35 dc, 2 dc in next 5 dc; join with sl st to first dc: 90 dc.
Rnd 3: Ch 3, dc in next 36 dc, [2 dc in next dc, dc in next dc] 3 times, 2 dc in next dc, dc in next 38 dc, [2 dc in next dc, dc in next dc] 4 times; join with sl st to first dc: 98 dc.
Rnds 4-23: Ch 3, dc in each dc around; join with sl st to first dc.
Rnd 24: Ch 3, dc in next 5 dc, ch 1, sk 1 st, dc in next 6 dc; repeat from * around to last st, ch 1, sk last st; join with sl st to first dc.
Rnd 25: Ch 3, dc in each dc and in each ch-1 sp around; join with sl st to first dc.
Rnds 26 and 27: Ch 3, dc in each dc around; join with sl st to first dc.
Rnd 28: Ch 3, dc in next 12 dc, ch 20, sk next 17 dc, dc in next 32 dc, ch 20, sk next 17 dc, dc in next 19 sts; join with sl st to first dc.

Appliqué Apple
With red, ch 5, sl st in first ch to form a ring.
Row 1 (RS): Ch 3 (counts as dc), 8 dc in ring: 9 dc.
Row 2: Ch 3, turn; 2 dc in the same st, dc in next 3 dc, 2 dc in next dc, dc in next 3 dc, 3 dc in last dc: 14 dc.
Row 3: Ch 3, turn, dc in next 5 dc, 2 dc in each of next 2 dc, dc in each dc across: 16 dc.
Row 4: Ch 3, turn; dc in next 6 dc, 2 dc in each of next 2 dc, dc in each dc across: 18 dc.
Row 5: Ch 3, turn; dc in each dc across.
Row 6: Ch 3, turn; 2dctog, dc in next 2 dc, 2dctog, dc in next 4 dc, 2dctog, dc in next 2 dc, 2dctog, dc in last dc: 14 dc.
Row 7: Ch 3, turn; dc in each dc across.

Sew the appliqué to the sack using a blunt-head sewing needle. Insert the ribbon in and out the holes created on Row 24 of sack. Tie the ends in a bow.
