September has always felt like the beginning of the new year for me. Whether it's because I've always associated school starting in September, or now my Symphony season, or because it's my birthday month, there is always excitement that surrounds the month. For kids, it's buying new school supplies, new school clothes after growing a couple inches over the summer, and forcing yourself to wear closed-toed shoes for the first time in three months after wearing flip-flops or bare feet all summer. It's especially exciting this fall because both of our 3 year old daughters are now in pre-school! A whole new experience for our kids, and for ourselves.
So it's Back to School here at Petite Purls. We have an incredible selection of patterns to help ease you into those first couple of weeks. The variety of accessories this issue blows my mind. We have three different styled pouches, just name your craft!
I'm also happy to welcome a few new article series we are starting: Crafting in Education and Crafting at Home. We want the opportunity to look into your lives and see how crafting plays a part in your daily routines.
In a time of economic crisis, it amazes me how prolific the crafting community still is. You can see from our Show and Tell reviews that there are incredibly high-quality products and books especially, that are coming on the market almost daily.
Finally, make sure you take a look at our new Petite Purls shop! We have some fantastic Petite Purls and Renaissance Moms swag.
Allegra & Brandy
Brandy Fortune began knitting in 2003 when she took what she thought was a crochet class at a local yarn store. In 2007 Brandy gave birth to her daughter, and knit several sweaters throughout her pregnancy. While there were loads of darling patterns, she wanted something a little different. Thus began her adventures in designing knitwear for babies. You can read the Pixie Purls blog, and see her other knitwear designs by visiting her website.

When she is not knitting or dreaming about knitting, Allegra Wermuth is a mother, wife, teacher and professional violinist living outside of Denver, Colorado. Her father taught her to knit six years ago when she wanted to knit small decorative scarves for all the women who were a part of her wedding. She hasn't put her needles down since. You can read about her adventures in knitting at her blog.
