For babies and kids, I love to design items that are easy and quick to knit and that also have interesting visual and textural elements. The Garter Ridge pattern makes a plain, basic hoodie more special, and it’s very easy to personalize the pattern by adding a second color so that the ridge stands out even more.

Pattern Notes

Front and back are joined at the shoulders using the 3-Needle Bind-off. Sleeves are picked up and knitted from the shoulder down. Hood is picked up along the neck edge and is joined at the top using the 3-Needle Bind-off.

3-Needle Bind-off
Place stitches to be joined on two needles, holding them together with the right sides facing. If you’d like a decorative ridge on the right side of the garment, hold the wrong sides together. Using a third needle, knit the first stitch from each needle together as one stitch. *Knit next stitch on each needle in the same way. Pass the first stitch over the second stitch. Repeat from * until one stitch remains on the third needle. Cut yarn and pull the tail through the last stitch.
